What This Election Signaled For America

Trump

Americans sat on the edge of their seats, glued to their TV screens as they waited for the results to come in. Who would be the next president of the United States? The actual question that was being asked though is "Which direction is my country headed?".

America spoke. Donald J. Trump is now President Elect. Not only did he rake in 312 electoral votes, he also won the popular vote, something the US has not seen happen since 2004. So what does this mean? What did this election signal for America?

Before I dive in, let me say this. I'm not a political commentator. I'm not a right wing republican loyalist. I personally identify as a conservative but I'd say like most Americans, I'm closer to the middle. I'm just a typical American guy. All over Fox, CNN, MSNBC, and all the other legacy media companies, you'll see Ivy league educated talking heads giving you their take on this election and what it means for our country. Of course they'll give you their opinions from whichever political side of the aisle their employer is on. They'll tell you all about the policies of the Trump Administration, how this will effect the economy, and where the country is headed, as if they're looking into their crystal ball. They'll crank out a 24 hour cycle of data and statistics skewed to their talking points. This post though, I'd like to express my personal opinion on how I think we got here. Why was this such a strong victory for the Republican party?

To start, It's the economy stupid. While social issues such as trans rights or abortion have a direct impact on a select number of Americans, the economy impacts ALL of us. Under the Biden Administration we didn't see inflation, we felt it. I'm one of the lucky ones. I've worked hard, run a business, I do okay for myself, yet I could still feel the strain. I could feel that my dollar wasn't going as far as it once did. I could not imagine being an American that works a job making $18-$20 an hour and trying to survive on my own, let alone raise a family. The fact that we've been through four entire years of the same stagnant, and depressing economy probably plays a pretty significant roll in why the American People were desperate for a change. Not only has the US economy been a wreck, there was no clear path forward under this administration. Yes, Kamala ran her own campaign but she was guilty by association, and she too failed to lay out an economic plan to voters that painted a clear and direct vision of how her administration would guide America back to a booming economic powerhouse. Repeating the phrase "Opportunity Economy" over and over again isn't a plan.

Second, I feel most Americans are tired of the woke agenda being shoved down our throats. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion should be something all Americans want to embrace at it's core but it was somehow transformed into an agenda item and forced on the American people and subsequently rejected. It was rejected because what it really was, virtue signaling. The Democratic party has lost because they lost touch with the average American. Democrats have bowed down to the groups that have screamed the loudest, not the majority of their voter base. It's truly my opinion that the majority of American voters, democrat, republican, independent, just want to be left alone. They don't want to be called racist or transphobic and be shouted down for not wanting drag queens to read stories to their children, or thinking that puberty blockers for kids is probably not the best idea. The democratic party ran this campaign on joy, when they should have been running on common sense policy and values that would have connected with the average American voter.

Lastly, I firmly believe Americans from across all ends of the political spectrum are waking up. We are all tired of being lied to. We are all tired of being told how to think. They lied about the origin of COVID19. They lied about the vaccine, and then tried to force YOU a free American to take it. The media and the democratic party constantly called Trump "Hitler", "racist", "fascist", and "A threat to our democracy". They said if Trump wins, there will never be another election. They used the legal system as a weapon against him. While most of the voices online were either cheering or booing, guess what the rest of America was doing. We were watching. The average, middle class, hard working American voter sat there and watched everything. Contrary to what the media thinks and what the out of touch Democratic party may think, Americans can and do think for themselves.

In closing, I think this victory signaled to everyone that America just wanted normalcy. We want the government out of our lives and out of our faces. We want to make a living wage and afford groceries. We wanted to quit spending like crazy. We want to know who is coming across the boarder. We want to quit fighting wars for no reason. The Trump campaign heard that. I have been very critical of Trump in the past, and I will continue to be critical when needed but the people he surrounded himself with this go round made him a very attractive choice to most Americans. I don't think America voted for Trump. I think they voted for JD Vance, Robert Kennedy, Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy. They voted for change, they voted for normalcy.
